Thousands Lost Power in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Approximately twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after powerful weather events swept through the area, producing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams deployed to manage the widespread outages.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, around 1,000 households in Victoria also encountered power outages after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mostly for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, in excess of 28k power users in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of eastern Queensland this week as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both areas.
Medical Alert
Public health experts alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
